Latin Nightlife in Downtown Orlando — Salsa + Perreo at Anthem

Downtown Orlando’s Latin nightlife runs on Thursdays — and the address is Anthem Orlando, 100 N Orange Ave. Every Thursday, the room does two nights back to back: an 8:30 PM salsa lesson and dance, followed at 11 PM by Perreo Central, Anthem’s late-night Latin drag show. If you’ve been looking for a Latin nightclub in downtown Orlando with a serious dance crowd and a full LGBTQ+ welcome, this is the room.

This is the week-by-week guide — salsa, bachata, merengue, reggaeton, dembow, Latin drag. All of it, one venue, every seven days.

Thursday 8:30 PM — Latin Night Salsa

Latin Night Salsa opens Thursday with a free beginner-friendly salsa lesson. No partner required — the lesson pairs everyone in a rotating format so you’ll dance with a dozen different people in the first 20 minutes. The instructor teaches the two basic steps, the cross-body lead, and one turn combination that gets you through the rest of the night.

After the lesson, the floor opens for salsa, bachata, and merengue mix from the DJ. Cover is $5–$7 for the salsa portion. Presented in partnership with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation — a portion of the proceeds goes to community health work.

  • 8:30 PM: Free beginner salsa lesson. Just show up.
  • 9 PM–11 PM: Open floor. Salsa, bachata, merengue.
  • Cover: $5–$7. Cash or card.
  • Crowd: Latin dance regulars, first-timers, LGBTQ+ crowd, mixed ages.
  • Dress: Whatever you can turn in. Real dancers wear socks and split-sole shoes; casual jeans work fine for the rest.

Thursday 11 PM — Perreo Central

Right after the salsa night ends, the room shifts. Perreo Central is Anthem’s late-night Latin drag show — reggaeton, dembow, Latin trap, and a rotating cast of some of the state’s best Latin drag performers. Free entry. Doors reset around 11 PM and the room fills to capacity by 12:30 AM.

Perreo Central is the reason downtown Orlando’s Latin queer nightlife has a real center of gravity. Reggaeton nights exist elsewhere; Latin drag nights are rare; a weekly show that runs both, at big-room sound levels, in a full LGBTQ+ venue — that’s Anthem, and it’s Thursdays.

How the double-header works

Same building, one ID scan, two experiences. Most people do one or the other, but a solid number do both — salsa lesson at 8:30, break for a drink and a bite in the transition hour, back in the room for Perreo Central by midnight. If you’ve never done Thursday nights at Anthem, that’s the way in.

Why downtown Orlando is a Latin nightlife city

Orlando has one of the largest Puerto Rican populations of any US city outside of New York — and a Cuban, Dominican, Colombian, Venezuelan, and Mexican community that keeps growing. That population maps onto the nightlife. Downtown, in particular, has a Latin dance crowd that shows up on a Thursday for a serious lesson and a real dance floor.

Anthem’s Latin programming isn’t a themed night — it’s the room. Some of our biggest single-night events of the year are Latin: the Florida Puerto Rican Parade afterparty in April, the Latin holiday shows, and every fifth Thursday when Perreo Central expands into a full late-night takeover.

Other downtown Orlando Latin nights

Downtown has a rotating Latin nightlife map — reggaeton pop-ups, salsa socials at other venues, and monthly Latin parties across Church Street and Wall Street Plaza. Anthem is the only venue running weekly, dedicated Latin programming with both a dance lesson and a Latin drag show. If you want a consistent Thursday plan, this is it.

Getting to Anthem for a Thursday

Anthem is at 100 N Orange Ave — the corner of Orange and Central, right in the middle of downtown. Central Boulevard Garage and SunTrust Center Garage are the closest paid options. Street parking on Central is free after 6 PM. Rideshare drops directly at the curb.

For the Salsa lesson, aim to arrive by 8:15 PM to catch the room orientation. For Perreo Central, midnight arrivals are the sweet spot before the line at the door builds.

Save the Thursday

Latin nightlife in downtown Orlando is a Thursday tradition. Bring a friend, bring the shoes you can turn in, and bring the readiness to stay out later than you planned. See the full weekly rhythm at Anthem in our Summer 2026 in Downtown Orlando hub.
