Every July, Disability Pride Month celebrates the identity, culture, and rights of people with disabilities. The month marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, signed on July 26, 1990 — a law that changed who gets to move freely through public life. At Anthem, Downtown Orlando’s LGBTQ+ bar, that question matters: who gets to belong on the dance floor? Our answer has always been everyone.

If you’re looking for Disability Pride Month events and inclusive nightlife in Orlando, here’s what the month means to us — and the work we’re committed to.

Disabled and queer: pride at the intersection

The LGBTQ+ community and the disability community overlap far more than mainstream nightlife admits. Many of our people live at that intersection every day. Disability Pride is about rejecting shame, celebrating disabled lives as full and joyful, and recognizing disabled leadership — themes that sit right alongside everything Anthem stands for.

We reclaimed the pink triangle as a symbol of resilience. Disability Pride reclaims space in the same spirit: not despite who you are, but because of who you are.

Accessibility is part of the invitation

Inclusion isn’t a slogan — it’s something you have to actually build for. If you’re planning a visit and want to know whether our space works for you, please reach out through our Contact page before you come and we’ll give you a straight, specific answer about getting in, getting around, and finding a good spot for the night.

We also want to hear from our disabled patrons about what would make a night at Anthem easier and louder for you. We know we can always do better, and your feedback shapes how we get there.

Celebrate Disability Pride Month with the community

July is a month to show up for one another. Whether it’s a weeknight Happy Hour, a drag show, or a Sunday afternoon of group singing, the invitation is the same: come as you are, move how you move, and take up space. Watch this week’s events for what’s on.

Loud and proud means all of us

Disability Pride Month is a reminder that a community is only as strong as its most welcomed members. Learn more about what drives us on our story, and come celebrate a July where everyone belongs.

Live loud, love proud — every single one of us. Anthem, 100 N Orange Ave, Downtown Orlando. Learn more about your rights through the ADA National Network.
